In this Spray Glue Canister Setup & Troubleshooting Guide, discover the best way to set up your spray glue canister for the best results.
Spray Glue Pot / Canister Canister Setup
Step 1
Attach the larger hose nut to the gun thread by turning it clockwise, and secure it firmly using a 22mm spanner. Ensure that the hose is securely attached.
Step 2
Place the spray tip into the tip retaining nut and screw it onto the end of the gun using a 22mm spanner. Make sure the spray tip is in a vertical or upright position.
Step 3
Connect the smaller hose nut to the canister valve by turning it clockwise, and fully tighten it with a 15mm spanner. Verify that the hose is securely attached.
Step 4
Rotate the canister valve anti-clockwise until it is fully open. Inspect the connections for any leaks and tighten them if necessary. Do not turn off the canister valve unless the canister is empty to prevent adhesive curing in the hose and gun.
Step 5
During the initial use, or if the canister has been idle for over 12 hours, it may be necessary to purge the hose and gun. To do this, pull the trigger and adjust the flow by turning the adjustment screw at the back of the gun (turn anti-clockwise to open and clockwise to close). Dispense and discard adhesive until a consistent spray pattern is achieved.
Spray Glue Pot / Canister Changeover
Step 1:
Rotate the canister valve clockwise until it is fully closed. Hold down the trigger on the gun to release any residual pressure in the line, which may take up to 20 seconds.
Step 2:
Utilize a 15mm spanner to unscrew the hose nut, and then disconnect the hose from the empty canister. (Refer to the next page for canister disposal instructions).
Step 3:
Attach the hose and gun to the new canister. (Refer to Step 3 of the preparation section and follow the process through to Step 5). If you are not transferring the hose and gun to a new canister, ensure to clean them for future use. Consult the product’s Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for the appropriate cleaner.
Spray Glue Pot / Canister Disposal
Step 1:
Lay the empty canister on its side, ensuring the valve is pointing AWAY from everyone and is well distanced from any sources of ignition.
Step 2:
Open the canister valve (anti-clockwise) to release any residual pressure.
Step 3:
Stand the canister upright. Utilize a hammer and brass punch, or another non-sparking instrument, to puncture the friable disc.
Step 4:
If the user is willing to accept responsibility for de-pressurising the canister, it can then be disposed of following your regular scrap metal disposal procedures, bearing in mind local waste restrictions.
