Find out what you need and how to apply secondary glazing attachment kits.
Your Secondary Glazing Kit should consist of
Before you start your Secondary Glazing Kit should consist of the following items:
- 1 x Steel Tape (premium acrylic adhesive backing)
- 1 x Magnetic Tape (premium acrylic foam backing)
- 3 x IPA Soaked Cleaning Wipes
How to apply a secondary glazing kit?
Once you have the items above, please read this surface preparation guide carefully and ensure that all surfaces are free of any contamination prior to tape application. This includes condensation.
Now the area is free from condensation and is clean, the foam backed magnetic tape should be applied to the perimeter of your pre-cut Perspex, making sure that any surface protection film has been removed first.
When you are happy that the tape has been placed correctly, we recommend applying even pressure with a roller as this will help secure the bond and remove any small air pockets.
Next having marked out where your Perspex sheet is to sit against the window frame, you can now apply the steel tape to the frame. Again, we recommend applying even pressure with a roller to secure the bond.
After applying the two tapes independently of each other, we recommend allowing a minimum of 8hrs before presenting the Perspex sheet to the frame. This will allow both tapes to build up their optimum bond strength before any force is exerted upon them.
