This bundle is an ideal alternative to double glazing, which is cheaper, and easier to install.

PLEASE NOTE: The steel tape (receptive) should be the adhesive tape applied to the frame. Both tapes should be applied separately to the substrates, ideally with a roller to get a full bond, before putting into place.

This is a self-adhesive steel tape, which is a fully lacquered steel tape finished in white. This tape has a premium adhesive backing on one side and is ideal for: sticking to non-steel – or non-magnetic – surfaces so that magnets can then be attached to this steel tape.

Magnetic Tape with White Foamed Adhesive Backing

This tape is a magnetic adhesive tape has a 1.5mm thick magnetic layer; but, with a foamed-acrylic adhesive.

This foamed adhesive will allow for differential rates of expansion and contraction between dissimilar materials under more extreme conditions.

How to fit these secondary glazing fixing tapes

The secondary glazing kit comes as two parts, a flexible magnet and a steel tape. Both the items have a self-adhesive backing. We recommend to apply the magnetic tape to the plastic screen and the steel tape to the window frame. The adhesive is pressure sensitive so pressure needs to be applied to the make sure the adhesive reached full adhesion. To get maximum magnetic holding force the magnet should be positioned so it covers the full face of the steel tape when the secondary glaze is in position. For best results ensure the frame is clean and dry when applying the steel tape, take care not to scratch the surface or edges of the steel tape during application. Avoid direct contact of pooled water to the steel tape. Make sure the secondary glaze material is clean and dry when applying the magnetic tape.

Answer: Hi George, these secondary glazing kits Have been put together for the easy installation of acrylic sheet for secondary glazing. The kit comprises of a cleaning wipe and surface preparation guide. The steel tape has a white face, and so this is normally applied to the frame.
