PSA4000F is a 25 metre continuous roll of 50mm self adhesive hook and loop tape, supplied in individual rolls of hook or loop in both black and white. Our stock adhesive is rubber-based, but acrylic adhesive can be made available on request, as can other colours.

Tool-Free Installation, Even at Heavy-Duty Width

The 50mm tape applies using the same peel-and-press method as our narrower rolls — no drilling, no mechanical fixings, and no drying time for wet adhesives. Remove the release paper to expose the rubber adhesive backing, position the tape on a clean surface, and apply firm pressure across the full 2-inch width. The bond grips immediately and reaches its maximum holding strength after 24 hours.

At this width, careful positioning matters. The adhesive makes strong contact the moment it touches the surface, so take an extra moment to align the tape before pressing down — repositioning a 50mm strip after initial contact is difficult without disturbing the adhesive.

Size and Roll Information

  • Width: 50mm / 2 inches / 5cm
  • Length: 25 metres per roll
  • Supplied as: Individual rolls of hook (male) or loop (female) — or order both together
  • Colours: Black or white as standard (other colours available on request)
  • Adhesive: Rubber-based pressure sensitive (acrylic available on request)

The 50mm width delivers double the adhesive contact area of our 25mm tape and over 30% more than the 38mm. This is a genuinely heavy-duty fastening tape — purpose-built for professional applications where the items being mounted are large, heavy, or subject to sustained load. It’s the width most commonly specified by exhibition contractors, commercial fit-out teams, and facilities maintenance professionals.

What Is 50mm Hook & Loop Tape Best For?

At 2 inches wide, the 50mm tape is designed for jobs where the fastening has serious work to do. It supports heavier items over longer periods, resists edge peel under sustained load, and provides the broad contact area needed to keep large panels flush and secure against walls and frames.

Exhibition build and event production:

  • Large exhibition panels and wall systems — the primary professional application for 50mm tape. Secure full-height printed panels, fabric-wrapped boards, and modular wall sections to shell scheme systems, custom-built frames, and venue walls. Exhibition contractors specify 50mm because it holds heavy rigid panels reliably across multi-day shows, yet strips away cleanly during breakdown without damaging the stand or the venue surface.
  • Conference and event backdrops — mount large branded backdrops, step-and-repeat boards, and scenic panels for conferences, award ceremonies, and product launches. The 50mm width handles the weight and wind resistance of large-format graphics in open event spaces.
  • Trade show flooring edges — secure the perimeter of raised flooring panels, carpet tiles, and vinyl floor wraps to the exhibition hall floor. The wide tape holds edges flat and trip-free throughout the event.

Commercial fit-out and interiors:

  • Acoustic panels — mount fabric-wrapped acoustic panels and sound-absorbing boards to office walls, meeting rooms, recording studios, and call centres. The 50mm width holds the weight of dense acoustic materials while allowing panels to be removed and repositioned as office layouts evolve.
  • Wall cladding and feature panels — attach decorative wall cladding, feature panels, and branded wall coverings in reception areas, hotel lobbies, and retail interiors. The tape provides a flush, damage-free mounting that can be changed when branding is refreshed.
  • Ceiling tiles and overhead panels — secure lightweight suspended ceiling tiles, hanging baffles, and overhead display elements in commercial interiors. The wide bonding surface reduces the risk of panels dropping under their own weight over time.

Industrial and facilities maintenance:

  • Machine guards and safety covers — fasten protective guards, dust covers, and safety screens to industrial machinery and production equipment. The 50mm tape allows maintenance teams to remove and refit guards quickly during servicing, without the time cost of unscrewing fixed panels.
  • Insulation boards and thermal panels — mount rigid insulation boards, thermal barriers, and pipe lagging covers to walls, ceilings, and equipment housings. The wide tape distributes load evenly across the board surface, preventing bowing or sagging at fixing points.
  • Warehouse and workshop signage — secure large health and safety signs, zone identification boards, and operational instruction panels to warehouse walls, racking systems, and workshop partitions.

Heavy-duty domestic:

  • Wall-mounted headboards — attach full-width upholstered or panelled headboards to bedroom walls. Run horizontal strips across the full back of the headboard for a solid, evenly distributed bond that prevents tilting or shifting.
  • Heavy mirrors — mount large, framed mirrors to hallway and bathroom walls without drilling into tiles or plasterboard. The 50mm width supports the weight of substantial frames and thick glass.
  • Garage and shed storage systems — fix wall-mounted tool boards, storage racks, and organisation panels to garage and shed walls. The tape handles the combined weight of the board and its contents, and allows the system to be repositioned if your storage needs change.

Superior Load Distribution for Heavier Items

The wider the tape, the more evenly it distributes weight across the mounting surface. This matters most with heavy items — a narrow tape concentrates stress along a thin strip, making the edges more likely to peel under load. The 50mm width spreads that same force across twice the area of a 25mm strip, dramatically reducing edge stress and giving the bond a significantly longer working life under sustained weight.

For the heaviest items in this range, applying multiple parallel strips of 50mm tape (spaced evenly across the back of the panel) provides redundancy and ensures that even if one strip is partially compromised, the remaining strips maintain a secure hold.

Water-Resistant and Suitable for Demanding Environments

This tape performs reliably in humid, damp, and temperature-variable environments — including bathrooms, commercial kitchens, covered outdoor areas, warehouses, and plant rooms. The hook and loop material is machine washable, making it suitable for items that are periodically removed for cleaning.

Rubber-Based Pressure Sensitive Adhesive

The rubber adhesive is engineered for high initial tack and strong, sustained performance under load. It bonds effectively to all common smooth, clean surfaces, including:

  • Metal (mild steel, aluminium, stainless steel, powder-coated)
  • Glass
  • Rigid plastics (ABS, acrylic, polycarbonate)
  • Painted walls, plasterboard, and sealed MDF
  • PVC and uPVC
  • Ceramic and glazed tiles
  • Low energy surfaces such as polypropylene, polystyrene, acetyl, PVA (polyvinyl acetate), and Teflon

For permanent installations or harsh environments — prolonged UV exposure, extreme temperature swings, high humidity, or chemical contact — we can supply the 50mm tape with an acrylic adhesive. Acrylic provides superior long-term durability and environmental resistance, making it the right choice for outdoor signage, industrial plant, and commercial installations expected to last years without maintenance. Engineered for High Cycle Life

PSA4000F is built for professional environments where fastenings are opened and closed as part of a regular workflow — exhibition panels stripped and remounted between shows, machine guards removed during weekly maintenance, acoustic panels repositioned during office reconfigurations. The hook and loop grip retains its effective holding strength through many hundreds of fastening cycles, with only gradual, minimal decline over the product’s lifetime.

Application Instructions

  1. Clean the surface rigorously. At 50mm width, any contamination trapped under the adhesive affects a larger area and has a greater impact on overall bond strength. Degrease with isopropyl alcohol, remove all dust and loose particles, and ensure the surface is completely dry before application.
  2. Measure and mark the tape position before peeling. At this width, the adhesive grips firmly on first contact — pre-marking ensures straight, accurate placement without the need to lift and reposition.
  3. Peel the release paper from the adhesive backing.
  4. Apply the tape to the surface and press down firmly along its entire length. Use a rubber roller or the flat edge of a plastic scraper to apply consistent pressure across the full 50mm width — hand pressure alone may leave the outer edges slightly lifted, which can lead to premature peel under load.
  5. Wait a full 24 hours before mounting any items to the tape. For heavy panels or items in vibration-prone environments, allow 48 hours where possible. In cold conditions (below 10°C), extend the curing time to 72 hours, as low temperatures slow the adhesive’s bonding process.

For comprehensive surface preparation guidance, see our Surface Preparation and Application Guide.

Please note: This tape is not recommended for fabrics, flexible vinyl, or underwater use. For permanent outdoor installations exposed to direct sunlight, we recommend the acrylic adhesive version.

Is 50mm the Right Width for Your Application?

The 50mm tape is designed for heavy-duty professional use. If your items are lighter and a narrower tape would be sufficient, our 30mm and 38mm rolls offer strong performance at a lower cost per metre. For the lightest domestic tasks, our 20mm and 25mm tapes are more than adequate.

If you need the absolute maximum bonding surface in our range — for full-size wall panels, heavy industrial enclosures, or large-format signage — our 100mm tape provides double the width and four times the contact area of a 25mm strip.

Not sure whether 50mm is overkill or not enough for your project? Contact our product support team — we’ll recommend the right tape based on the weight, surface, and environment of your specific application.
